Just off of Worth Avenue, a sand dollar’s throw from the beach, sits an escape from the flashing screens and digital noise of modern life. Buzzing with vibrance and vintage flair, The Colony Hotel characterizes the glamourous era of 1950’s Palm Beach hotels, while making the guest experience feel oh, so contemporary. They wanted to update their hotel stationery suite and, naturally, approached DATAGRAPHIC because of our multi-process mastery and impeccable attention to detail.
Recently featured in Neenah Papers’ The Idea Shop and consisting of pocket folders, correspondence cards, menu covers, postcards, business cards and more, the colorful hotel stationery needed to reflect the luxury of this iconic pink paradise. In researching The Colony’s long, celebrated history, we knew that the materials we chose would be just as important as printing processes we used to create each piece.
How we produced The Colony’s iconic hotel stationery.
Selecting stocks with just the right tactile quality would be key to creating an impactful effect that would echo throughout their throwback designs and illustrations. We chose Neenah Paper’s CLASSIC CREST and CLASSIC Linen stocks due to their high-quality reproduction using offset lithography and HP Indigo Digital printing, both of which we would use to produce the various components of their hotel stationery.
The Colony Hotel’s signature pink and green PMS colors perfectly embody its timeless Palm Beach aesthetic and transferred beautifully onto the various linen and eggshell Neenah stocks. The vibrant palettes of the playful illustrations and botanical patterns – reproduced faithfully using both digital and offset – bring to life the hotel’s rich history. For an added dash of sophistication, we elevated their correspondence cards with a registered blind emboss on their logo.
Elevating the ‘take home’ with a side sewn mini-journal sends the hotel stationery suite to new heights.
While we’re super proud of the entire suite of hotel stationery we produced for The Colony, the one piece that really stands out is their “My Pink Paradise Diary,” a pocket journal adorned with the signature foliage patterns synonymous with The Colony and its rich history. Anchored by a hit of their signature pink PMS, the 4-color +1 offset cover wraps around the diary much like the wallpapers with in their impeccably designed rooms and suites. The binding with white thread adds a luxurious finishing touch to these keepsakes.
The Colony understands that travel removes us from our environment—our day-to-day routines. It inspires exploration and helps to get our creative juices flowing.
